How to Drive Traffic to Your Blog Using Facebook

With over 350 million members, Facebook has grown overtime to become
the most admired and most popular social networking site offering
users an interactive platform to connect and communicate with family,
friends, colleagues, neighbours and others around the world. Apart
from connecting with friends, facebook is also designed in a way that
it can be used to advertise your products and services or drive
traffic to a blog site. Following this breakthrough, it is believed
that traffic from facebook and other social networking sites will soon
surpass traffic from search engines like Google.
To achieve this requires time and hardwork as you explore the numerous
possibilities provided by facebook to aid you in the promotion of your
blog. Below are the steps to follow:
1-ATTRACTIVE PROFILE
An interesting profile is your first selling point. As with all social
networking sites, people are more attracted to an interesting profile.
So make sure that you complete your profile strategically to include
the NECESSARY information that will really reflect your goals. Be
selective with the pictures you upload, especially your profile
picture and your likes and interests. Edit your privacy settings to
make your profile public so that anyone can see your profile, who
knows they may be attracted.
2-LINK YOUR SITE TO YOUR FACEBOOK PROFILE
Facebook provides you with an opportunity to include information about
your blog to your profile, make sure you take advantage of that. Some
blogs like wordpress can also be linked to your facebook whereby all
your posts will appear on your facebook wall.
3-FIND FRIENDS
No matter how attractive your profile is, if you dont have friends to
view them, then your endeavour is futile. Facebook has a search tool
which you can use to search for friends. You must not know a person to
make friends with that person. The worst that can happen is that the
person will reject your request(which rarely happens). You can also
add friends from groups that reflect your interests and share similar
views with you.
4-BUILD NETWORK
Create a group or page, invite people to join. It does not just end
there, make sure you update your group and page with current
informations to keep it lively. While inviting people to join your
network, do not be too pushy so that they dont get upset. You can also
join existing groups and pages that reflect your interest, be
interactive, by so doing, you create your own followers from that page
or group.
5-BE ACTIVE AND POST RELEVANT POSTS
You have a good profile, many friends and followers, you think you
have arrived? If you do not update your status regularly, you are sure
to lose your audience. While posting regularly, make sure that your
posts are relevant to your niche, your posts should contain links to
your blog so that your audience can reach your blog via your posts.
6-BUILD RELATIONSHIP
Just like the saying 'if you scratch my back, i will scratch yours' do
not just keep updating your profile and feel that people will comment
on your when you don't comment on theirs. Interact and reciprocate
with your friends, this will make them to be more interested in you
since you are showing interest in them too.
7-CONNECT YOUR FACEBOOK ACCOUNT WITH YOUR OTHER SOCIAL NETWORKING ACCOUNTS
This can help you to save time aside from drawing traffic. When your
blog is linked to your facebook and other networking accounts like
twitter, any activity in your blog is automatically updated in your
connected social networking sites.
8-FIND FACEBOOK APPS THAT WILL BE RELEVANT TO YOU
Facebook has many apps. Check for the ones that will work for you in a
great way. For instance, MarketPlace widget/plugin or Blog Friends
widget are very useful and you should take advantage of them. You can
also use the widgets for crossposting (i.e. posting directly on
Twitter from Facebook) because this saves you time.
9-USE FACEBOOK ADS
You might consider using Facebook Social ads. Facebook ads are fairly
inexpensive, can be targeted, and can raise awareness of your blog,
your Facebook page, or anything else you want to advertise. These are
PPC ads and starting a campaign is similar to an Adwords campaign.
10-BE SOCIAL AND NOT PROMOTIONAL
As a social networking site, you are expected to be social like a
human, not promotional. With that in mind, mix your status updates and
content between promotional information and entertaining, personal
updates. Be careful also not to be too personal, so that you will not
annoy your audience.
